Back Print

The Following article will give you a step by step guide on transferring GA4 from one computer to another.

Before you do anything, it is extremely important that you backup your current version of Garage Assistant. Once complete, as you will be installing GA4 on to a different computer, copy the backup file to a USB Memory Stick/External Hard Drive or cloud storage if you have the option to do so.

The Backup file can be found in a folder on your C: Drive, please see below for an example.

You will need to copy both the _LastBackup.GA4 and _LastBackup_Attachments.GA4 files.

Downloading GA4

  1. You are now ready to log into your Account area and download the full version of GA4 on your new computer, from your account area on our website.

If you are unsure of your details, on your existing copy of GA4, go to Admin > Your Account & Credit Packs > Login to Website (top right).
Do not use the Trial Version, it cannot be activated.

  2. Click on 'Downloads' and select the correct version of GA4 for you and choose to open the download when complete.

  3. Follow the On-Screen instructions to install the software.
Before restoring any data you will need to ensure that you put both the _LastBackup.GA4 and _LastBackup_Attachments.GA4 files back into the correct folder, as per the image above.   c:\GA4 User Data\Backup  Files\

Once and opened, you will be presented with the following welcome screen

Click on "Restore Data" and then "Start Restore" to initiate restoring your data. After clicking Restore one final time, it will detect if there is a backup available, or give you the option to select a backup file to restore from. As this is a fresh install on a new computer it is highly likely it won't find a backup

Simply find your backup file and click "Open".

The system will then automatically restore all of your data from your original computer.
