Q. Instructions for upgrading from GA2 to GA3
The upgrade procedure when going from GA2 to GA3 is fairly straight forward.
- Download the FULL Version of GA3 - Not the update patches
- Perform a backup in GA2
- Install GA3
- Open GA3 and log in using Admin / Admin
- Go to the administration area and click on Backup / Restore Menu (bottom left)
- Click on Restore from Last Backup
- This will start the upgrade process
- Once the upgrade has complete, activate GA3 using the details in your members area.
The upgrade procedure for the network edition is the same, apart from the downloading.
If you are happy with the upgrade (although we recommend leaving GA2 installed for at least 1 week) you can un-install GA2 from your system.
Network users can also un-install Filemaker Pro 9 or 10. Filemaker 11 is required.
If you are upgrading to GA3 from an earlier version of Garage Assistant, please be aware the process may take in excess of 1 hour to perform the upgrade. There have been a lot of modifications to the data structure in GA3 for improved performance and stability.
If any problems arise during the update rest assured that GA2 will remain installed / un-touched and can be used as normal.
